Real Safety FRP Mud Mats System is the right choice and a viable alternative to steel plate mudmats – specifically for offshore jacket and subsea infield structures. These fiberglass mats are large, flat plates that are placed directly on the seabed to provide a stable foundation and support for this type of setting, where a stable foundation of the platforms is a concern – as well as the protection of the surrounding environment.

The advantage of using our Mud Mats is their considerable strength over steel plates. They are typically used in areas where the seabed is composed of soft or loose sediments, which can create stability issues for offshore structure. These mats are stronger and easier to transport and install than traditional steel plates. They are also resistant to corrosion and have a high strength-to-weight ratio, which means that they can support heavy loads. Due to the high-strength FRP Mud Mat planking (flexural strength of 65,000 psi), many anodes are no longer required and are, therefore, eliminated—lowering the expense of a project. With the elimination of anodes and the reduction in steel tonnage, FRP Mud Mats are more cost effective than steel plate mudmats.

Standard Duty and Heavy-Duty Mud Mats are developed for fixed offshore and subsea platforms, where a stable foundation is required.
